Ostend Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

We are delighted to announce that after nine years of planning, lobbying and construction works, VOC Ostend, an EMPOWER Founding Member, has opened its new Rehabilitation Centre. The new building has the capacity to treat 400-500 oiled birds at a time, and can be upgraded within 24 hours, enabling the centre to treat up to 1000 birds. In the event of a major spill, the building has been designed to allow for temporary constructions to be erected so that even more oiled birds can be accepted. The Centre also boasts an exhibition room where visitors can see directly into the wildlife hospital, which is an ideal set-up for visiting schools.

The completion of the classroom, the installation of solar panels and the construction outdoor cages and pens will only proceed once funding has been secured. The Centre is now fully operational and ready to receive visitors.
