Volunteer training in Estonia

Immediately after the 10th Effects of Oil on Wildlife conference, the Estonian Fund for Nature (ELF) organised a volunteer training close to Tallinn. Hugo Nijkamp (Sea Alarm) and Claude Velter (Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre Ostend) were asked to lecture on this training.

Whereas Hugo introduced the volunteers to key issues and backgrounds of an oiled wildlife response, Claude took them through the essentials of the rehabilitation process. The powerpoint presentation that he used for his training was developed with a grant that was provided by Sea Alarm. The Estonian Fund for Nature organises regular training on shoreline cleanup and oiled wildlife response for its numerous volunteers. In case of a wildlife emergency in Estonia, ELF can call on these volunteers and partner with the authorities to provide an effective and coordinated response.
