Research grants available from the Oiled Wildlife Care Network

The Californian Oiled Wildlife Care Network has published its 2011-2012 call for research proposals from wildlife professionals interested in improving oiled wildlife response and gaining a better understanding of the effects of oil on wildlife. The OWCN sponsors up to $250,000 a year to support research and technology development. Since the programme began in 2006, $2 million has been channeled into efforts to improve understanding of how oil affects wildlife. Projects funded by OWCN must support the aims of their Research & Technology programme, namely: improving animal care, assessment of wildlife health, wildlife population assessments and new technologies and techniques for dealing with oiled wildlife. Small grants of up to $10,000 can be awarded for one-year research projects or full project funding is available for larger projects lasting up to three years. Although the large projects deadline has already passed, the deadline for receipt of small grant proposals is the 29th July. Details of the funding programme are available via this link.
