Christophe Blazy joins the Sea Alarm Team
We are very happy to report that Christophe Blazy, a marine biologist born in France, has joined the Sea Alarm team as a Technical Advisor.
Christophe took his university education in France (Lyon and Marseille) and the Netherlands (Wageningen), with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and Agronomy and a Master’s Degree in Oceanography, Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management. He has worked as a Research Assistant on marine biodiversity assessment in Malta and as a Research Assistant in France on artificial reef monitoring and ecological restoration via artificial fish nurseries in coastal areas.
Christophe joins us from his two-year posting as Junior Programme Officer at the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean (REMPEC), with whom Sea Alarm has a long running partnership and MoU.
While at REMPEC, Christophe had a range of responsibilities including organisation of Contracting Party events (workshops, trainings, conferences, etc.) and supporting the implementation of projects such as the ongoing EU-funded project Western Mediterranean Region Marine Oil and HNS Pollution Cooperation (West MOPoCo) which ran from 2019 to 2020. He was in charge of the design and development of technical tools and websites, provided IT support and was responsible for communications regarding the Centre’s work.
Christophe’s varied experience will be a great addition to our team, as will his background and interest in protecting the marine environment. His appointment, for an initial term of a year, brings the Sea Alarm core team to 4 people, reflecting our growing portfolio and range of activities. We extend a warm welcome to Christophe and look forward to working with him!
