Cooperation with REMPEC

At the recent Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC/SPA) meeting in June, Sea Alarm discussed the possibilities for increased preparedness for oiled wildlife response in the Mediterranean with representatives of RAC/SPA and ACCOBAMS (Agreement on the Conservation of Cetaceans in the Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea and contiguous Atlantic area).

It was agreed that in the event of an oiled wildlife emergency in the Mediterranean, REMPEC, Sea Alarm and the other organisations would cooperate closely together. In the near future it will be discussed how the cooperation needs to be formalised; one of the options is that a Memorandum of Understanding is signed between REMPEC and these key organisations.
